D1 Music was founded in July 2002, by producer, songwriter and musician, Jay Gordon, lead vocalist of the multi-platinum alt/techno-metal band ORGY.

Music is Jay Gordon’s realized vision of a total resource for up-and-coming,
cutting-edge bands, musicians and songwriters trying to break into the music
recording industry. In the 12-months since D1 Music was founded, Jay has been
developing, recording, producing, and co-producing a wide variety of soon-to-be-released
projects, including Hip-Hop projects from new artists ANONYMOUS and rapper
P.O. Additionally, D1 Music will release the third ORGY studio
CD, tentatively entitled “Punk Statik Paranoia”, in January
2004. All demo’s submitted to D1 Music are also thoroughly reviewed by
D1 Music’s established roster of consulting producers, artist managers,
booking agents, and film production companies who are also seeking cutting-edge
recording artists or songs. Partnering with a select group of emerging and established independent labels that share IDN’s commitment to building a quality distribution operation, IDN focuses its efforts on a targeted group of labels to maximize results. Serving as the sales and marketing arm of the affiliated independent labels, IDN promotes, sells and fulfills product to all major chains, mass merchants, wholesalers and independent retailers in addition to the new and emerging retail outlets. The distribution agreement with Innovative Distribution Network is expected to put D1 Music on a growth fast track as a leading westcoast independent artist and talent development and recording company.
D1 Music’s business team is headed by father and son team of CEO Jay Gordon and COO Lou Gordon. Both gentlemen have a combined 45-years of extensive music industry, recording, production and management experience. Jay Gordon is recognized as a multi-platinum producer, engineer and songwriter with bands such as ORGY, LINKIN PARK, COAL CHAMBER, DANZIG, ADZ, and CRAZY TOWN. Collaborating with KORN’s Jonathan Davis, Jay Gordon wrote, remixed and co-produced music, and lent his vocals to songs, for such major motion pictures as QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, ZOOLANDER, I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, and SCREAM 3. Lou Gordon’s managerial skills were honed under the wing of David Kapralik, former manager of SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE, and then as the manager in his own right of TOWER OF POWER and BUDDY MILES.

Additionally, Joel Turtle Esq. will be in charge of D1 Music’s day-to-day business affairs. In his 30-year music industry career, Joel has established many independent record labels including Beserkeley Records and Riot Records and was associated with Hugh Hefner's Playboy Records. D1 Music legal and contractual affairs will be handled by Rick Joseph Esq., who has handled Jay's personal business affairs since 1998.
