The Healing Circle Soul Support Group Calls a Press Conference to Honor the Producers of the Exotic Erotic Ball and Rap Artist Snoop Dogg

San Francisco, CA - Monday, October 23, 2007: The members of the non-profit foundation The Healing Circle Soul Support Group formally request your attendance at a press conference to honor the producers of The Exotic Erotic Ball and the legendary Rap/Hip-Hop recording artist, Snoop Dogg, date, time and place above. This press conference is to announce the receipt of substantial charitable donations that have been, and continue to be, received by the Healing Circle from the producers of the Exotic Erotic Ball, in conjunction with Snoop Dogg. Funds have been generated via Snoop Dogg’s Benefit Performance, produced by the Exotic Erotic Ball, scheduled to take place on October 26, at the Cow Palace. The members of the Healing Circle consist largely of mothers who have lost children to gunplay and other forms violence. They have suffered the worse loss any human being can experience. The Healing Circle promotes sharing, healing, education and action for survivors of homicide and victims of inner city violence. The Healing Circle’s primary source of funding comes from public and community donations.
Those in attendance answering questions from the press will be The Healing Circle co-founders, Mattie Scott and George Jurand, both of whom lost children to inner-city violence. Mr. Jurand is also the Program Coordinator with the City and County of San Francisco’s Sheriff Department. Members of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office and Police Force have been invited to attend and confirmations are forthcoming. Also in attendance will be recording artist and VP of Doggy Style Records and Snoop Dogg record producer, JT The Bigga Figga, the founder of the Exotic Erotic Ball, Perry Mann, and the Ball’s Executive Producer, Howard Mauskopf. Please note, Snoop Dogg will not be attending this press conference.
About The Exotic Erotic Ball: Founded in 1979 as a political fundraiser by Perry Mann and the late Louis Abolafia, The Exotic Erotic Ball has long fostered strong ties to the San Francisco Bay Area community. Over the years, the Ball has distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities supporting causes such as helping the victims of homelessness, AIDS, domestic violence, child abuse, and has always supported freedom of expression and First Amendment Rights. The Ball hosts an annual blood drive with Blood Centers of the Pacific and this year 103 donors gave 103 pints of blood and each received a ticket to the Ball. The City of San Francisco has issued three proclamations for “Exotic Erotic Ball Day,” twice by former Mayor Willie Brown in 1999 and again in 2001, and once by current Mayor Gavin Newsom in 2004.
