Majael Entertainment founder and CEO Angela Beck
began her entertainment industry career as a professional singer/songwriter
in the mid-70’s in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, before relocating
to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1980’s. Founded in February
2003, Majael Entertainment’s team of music and entertainment industry professionals
has over 50-years of collective experience in artist development, marketing,
as well as concert promotion. Majael Entertainment’s staff has brought
nationally known acts, entertainers and Off Broadway productions to leading
venues throughout Oakland and San Francisco. D1 Music was founded in July 2002, by producer, songwriter and musician, Jay Gordon, lead vocalist of the multi-platinum alt/techno-metal band ORGY. Founded as a total resource for up-and-coming, cutting-edge bands, musicians and songwriters trying to break into the music recording industry, in June 2003, D1 Music signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Innovative Distribution Network, a division of Alliance Entertainment Corp., one of the leading distributors of independent labels in the U.S. The distribution agreement with Innovative Distribution Network, in conjunction with the joint venture agreement with Majael Entertainment, is expected to put the San Francisco-based D1 Music on a growth fast track as a leading west coast independent artist and talent development and recording company.
D1 Music’s business team is headed by father and son team of CEO Jay Gordon and COO Lou Gordon. Both gentlemen have a combined 45-years of extensive music industry, recording, production and management experience.
According to Lou Gordon, “This Joint Venture will combine Majael Entertainment’s financial resources with D1 Music’s vast music industry experience so our companies can invest in, develop and bring to market a greater number of cutting-edge emerging artists, singers, songwriters and bands of all musical genres than we had originally anticipated.”
Jay Gordon is also recognized as a multi-platinum producer, engineer and songwriter with bands such as ORGY, LINKIN PARK, COAL CHAMBER, DANZIG, ADZ, and CRAZY TOWN. Collaborating with KORN’s Jonathan Davis, Jay Gordon wrote, remixed and co-produced music, and lent his vocals to songs, for such major motion pictures as QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, ZOOLANDER, I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, and SCREAM 3. Lou Gordon’s managerial skills were honed under the wing of David Kapralik, former manager of SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE, and then as the manager in his own right of TOWER OF POWER and BUDDY MILES.
