“Miller’s East Coast Delicatessen Marin” Officially Opens for Business on January 4, 2012
January 5, 2011 - San Rafael, CA - East Coast transplants, and those who have dined on and still salivate at the mere mention of indescribably delicious gastronomical wonders from traditional East Coast delicatessens, have reason to rejoice. Miller’s East Coast Delicatessen, San Francisco’s only authentic East Coast Jewish delicatessen, has officially opened its second location in San Rafael as Miller’s East Coast Delicatessen Marin, in the Montecito Shopping Center, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012!
Yes, Miller’s
East Coast Delicatessen heaps the finest
of freshly home cooked turkey, roast and corned beef, pastrami, and roast
brisket, as well as brand name deli meats, atop fresh and chewy rye bread for
the best mouth-watering sandwiches west of the Mississippi. In addition, Miller’s will offer the
widest variety of smoked fish - and the only establishment to offer real Belly
Lox - in Northern California. But
sandwiches and smoked fish are the mere tip of the iceberg to the massive menu
of old world deli comfort cuisine unparalleled in its array and diversity. Sturdy hot plates, stuffed cabbage,
chopped liver, kasha varnishkes, potato latkes, blintzes, knishes, freshly made
salads, sauerkraut, matzo brei and matzo ball soup, crisp and tart giant
pickles, rugelach (packed with nuts and sugar crystals), and an abundant array
of desserts, including Black and White cookies, and, yes, even real New York
bagels.
Oy vey,
and those bagels… The San
Francisco Chronicle states, “The
bagels are dense, crusty, slightly gnarled… Boiled and partially baked in the Big Apple, Miller's finishes them off in its own ovens. And they're worth every penny.”
Chef/owner
(and long-time Novato resident), Robby Morgenstein, takes his deli seriously. He’s a man with deli in his DNA; “a
transplanted Baltimore/Long Island Deadhead who comes from serious deli stock
(his family owns Miller’s and Attman’s in Baltimore),” states David Sax, the James Beard
Award-winning author of Save
The Deli. Robby’s been serving the Jewish
classics to hungry locals and tourists alike since 2000 from the original Miller’s East Coast Delicatessen at 1725 Polk Street. The KQED “Check Please” Blog states, “It's as if they pulled a delicatessen from
Manhattan and dropped it on Polk Street… The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the mood throughout the
restaurant is very upbeat and enjoyable.”
The
family–friendly Miller’s East Coast Delicatessen Marin is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take-out or dine-in with seating for 80
inside and 30 on the exterior patio. Enjoy your meal with local wines and beers, perfectly paired for Miller’s menu of comfort foods and picnic meals, or enjoy an
authentic Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray Soda. Miller’s Marin will also
offer freshly prepared, old-fashioned deli party platters, “just the way you
like them,” states Robby. “We take
great care and pride in the preparation and presentation, from folding and
layering each cold cut slice to the decorative ornate garnishes.”
