‘Doggone Sweet 16’ San Francisco Drag King Contest Announced
July 6, 2011, SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Big Ball Holder, DragStrip Productions, announces the “Doggone Sweet 16” San Francisco Drag King Contest (SFDK16). Grab your favorite bone and b-tch, get down on all fours, lick ‘em if you got em, and prepare to get ruff! San Francisco’s internationally-known Dog Day of Androgyny will bring together a carnivorously diverse Sex and Drag and Rock & Roll Kennel Club of primping and preening canines, pups, pooches, hounds and feral beasts to select the 2011 ‘Best in Show’ Drag King at The DNA Lounge, August 5, 2011. Again, the SF Drag King Contest throws the proverbial benefit bone to PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support – www.pawssf.org) - a volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons with HIV/AIDS and other disabling illnesses. "One of the most boisterous parties of the year," barks the SF Chronicle, it’s also "Sexy, campy, dragalicious, professionally executed and full of talent," yelps the SF Bay Times, and "Impressive, varied, and wild," yaps The Onion. "The San Francisco Drag King Contest is a mash-up of the Miss America Pageant, American Idol, Halloween and a Monster Truck Show, and this year we’ve thrown in a little bit of Westminster Dog Show regality," states Top Dog Pack Leader impresario and emcee Fudgie Frottage, aka: “The Man with the Biggest Balls in Show Business.” Co-emcee, Sister Roma of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, 'The Most Photographed Nun in the World’ barks, "Every year some of the Kings are so hot I just want to go into heat, heel, roll over, play dead and get sniffed and licked while whimpering the night away. The star-studded 16th Annual San Francisco Drag King Contest features special guest D.R.E.D from New York. D.R.E.D (Daring Reality Every Day), called “The most charismatic and alluring stage presence ever seen," by The Village Voice is the beloved Haitian-American, self-love educator, diversity consultant, LGBTQQIA supporter, healer and actress best known for her mystical one-woman shows, which blend comedy, poetry, dance, monologue, education, movement, and some of the most intense female and male characters ever created. The SFDK16 will also showcase 2010 winners Hamm Graham and The Wham Bam Thank You Ma'ams, cabaret chanteuse extraordinaire The Indra, Leigh Crow, aka Elvis Herselvis, Black Flag tribute band Black Fag from Los Angeles, Old Skool rappers The Momma's Boyz, San Francisco's renowned female rapper JenRO, and twisted BurlyQ artist DeeDee Luxe from New York. DJ D.I.E will be spinning the beats. But, most of all, the San Francisco Drag King Contest would not be complete without the contestants!
