The boys, and an occassional girl, of the 14th Annual "Surf Saga-Themed" San Francisco Drag King Contest wash into town on August 15, 2009, and promise the wildest hang ten (inches or more) ride of all-encompassing, wet, interactive, loud, extreme, and altogether awesome Point Break-meets-Riding Giants party of pure excitement, energy, and hotness-in-cheap-board-shorts engorged by even cheaper beer. |
July 8, 2009 – SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Clench those teeth, assume the position and hold on tight to your hard, shapely, and streamlined ride… Surfs Up, Boys! Big Ball holder, DragStrip Productions, is proud to announce that the 14th Annual “Surf Saga-Themed” Drag King Contest will shamelessly glide into San Francisco's golden and glistening powder-soft shoals of masculinity on a gnarly testosterone-fueled white-foam-and-spray-tube-ride of studliness, Saturday, August 15, 2009 at, where else?… The DNA Lounge. Proceeds from the San Francisco Drag King Contest will benefit P.A.W.S. - Pets Are Wonderful Support – a volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons with HIV/AIDS and other disabling illnesses. http://www.pawssf.org

With a hotness factor on par with an 8-hour Mavericks tube ride, "The Drag King Contest is a mash-up of the Miss America Pageant, American Idol, Halloween and a Monster Truck Show," states impresario Fudgie Frottage, aka: the Johnny Utah-meets-Bodhi of the Drag King Nation, and “The Man with the Biggest Balls in Show Business.” The Drag King Contest offers a true cathartic experience that puts you in the water with a star-studded line-up and gender-bending contestants who are being exhilaratingly swept weightless at breakneck speed by the surf, spray and wind into the rip current's vortex of scrutiny. Fudgie pronounces, “Rest assured, the evening's entertainment will be overwhelmingly relentless, undulating, pulsating and as thick and tasty as a tsunami of caramel and crëme liqueur wiping out on the back of your throat.”
Sister Roma of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and ‘The Most Photographed Nun in the World,' adds, “This will be San Francisco's wildest hang ten (inches or more) ride of all-encompassing, wet, interactive, loud, extreme, and altogether awesome Point Break-meets-Riding Giants party of pure excitement, energy, and hotness-in-cheap-board-shorts engorged by even cheaper beer. The 2009 star-studded event will showcase Papa Don Preach , reigning 2008 Solo King for his killer singing voice, Fella-Fem, 2008 troupe winners for their sexy campy choreography, The Crickette Bardot Dancers, Beautiful Bellydancing Bollywood Faux Queens, and special guests, Arty Fishal, SF Drag King 1998 titleholder, Dee Dee Luxe, The Indra, The Momma's Boyz, Shack "The Shack" Shackwell, The East Bay King's Club, and Psychobilly Punk Band, Thee Merry Widows.
Contestants are judged on talent, creativity, studliness, sex appeal, originality, humor, make-up/facial hair and fashion by the illustrious panel of nationally known celebrity judges, including Drag King Titleholders, Rusty Hips and Jay Walker, Simone DeLaGetto of Harlem Shake Burlesque, and former Miss Trannyshack, Anna Conda, of Charlie Horse, and Herr-a-Chick. DJ's Juanita More! and D.I.E. rock the house. This year a virile VIP lounge, with drink specials served by sponsor Bulleit Bourbon, will be bangin' upstairs.
